In this four-minute MEMRI video, Egyptian-Canadian writer Saïd Shoaib says that western imams who praise the Islamic caliphate are terrorists and that western politicians don’t know what is being taught in western mosques.
Canada’s politicians demonstrated their lack of awareness of political Islam by passing Motion M-103 in March, 2017. But it’s not just our politicians, it’s our institutions. As Shoaib explains, he wanted to donate two of his books criticizing political Islam to the Ottawa Public Library – and they refused them as being in violation of Canadian values! On the other hand, the Library contained books written by people who state their intention to destroy Canada. Presumably this is not against Canadian values. A library can legitimately contain books by Islamists, just like it can contain a book like Hitler’s Mein Kampf, but surely then it can contain books opposing political Islam, just like it can contain books criticizing the genocidal policies of Hitler. The misguided policies of the Ottawa Public Library reflect the extent to which the concept of “Islamophobia” conflates criticism of the ideology of Islam with the promotion of hatred against Muslims (which is the actual purpose of Motion M-103). Saïd Shoaib warns Canada that a radical political Islam is being promoted in mosques and Islamic schools in Canada. Our naive politicians and institutions are not paying attention.
