Professor Emeritus Salim Mansur, author of “The Delectable Lie” and several other thought-provoking books on the social condition, recently turned his attention to the 75th anniversary of VE Day – the day the allied powers declared victory over Axis forces in Europe. In an extended interview with “Just Right Media”, he wonders what the “greatest generation”, the generation that won WWII and went on pave the way for a “Cold War” victory over the Soviet Union, would think of the current state of Western freedom.
Would they wonder how such hard won triumphs over the tyrannies of their day were frittered away to the point that their descendants now find themselves locked away with their civil liberties curtailed. Will the time period from 1945 to 2020 come to be known as the season between tyrannies? Salim Mansur addresses these questions and goes on to pinpoint the causes of our current predicament.
