B’nai Brith Canada Appalled by Antisemitism on “Muslims in Calgary” Website

Editor's Note: The appallingly anti-Semitic postings of the group "Muslims in Calgary" and a Vancouver mosque, reported by B'nai Brith, might explain the concerns about Islam by Canadian citizens. The government is not inclined to address hatred promoted by Muslim groups. Instead it would "quell" those who might express concerns by labeling them "Islamophobic." No wonder Canadians are suspicious of Motion M-103 and are losing trust in this government!

By Aidan Fishman Interim National Director of the League for Human Rights B'nai Brith Canada CALGARY – B’nai Brith Canada has filed a complaint with the Calgary Police Service over the virulently antisemitic content being promoted by a group, Muslims in Calgary, on its website and Facebook page. On Wednesday, a concerned community member alerted B’nai Brith to an article posted by the group on Jan. 27, International Holocaust Remembrance Day, in which the author denies that six-million Jews were killed by the Nazis and their collaborators, claiming that the Holocaust has been exaggerated by Jews in order to attract global sympathy. The author of the article is none other than David Duke, a U.S. white supremacist and former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. Other posts made by Muslims in Calgary in January describe Israel as “a scourge, a cancer that needs to be dealt with” and tout infographics designed by Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist group committed to murdering Jews worldwide. Ironically, this antisemitic material is interspersed with other posts decrying anti-Muslim hatred in Canada. The Muslims in Calgary website solicits funds for four mosques in the Calgary area, including one run by the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC). In October, B’nai Brith filed a complaint with Vancouver police and relevant Canadian authorities after an imam at a local MAC mosque referred to Israelis as “an impure gang” and urged his congregants to send “money, weapons and expertise” to the Palestinians for use against Israel. “This shocking material on the Muslims in Calgary website demonstrates the versatility of antisemitism on the far-right, the far-left, and radical Islamist ideology,” said Michael Mostyn, Chief Executive Officer of B’nai Brith Canada. “Time and time again, we see that the only thread connecting these disparate groups is their common hatred of Jews. “We call on all Canadians of good conscience to reject these attempts to spread hatred and division throughout our society.” The Muslims in Calgary website previously attracted scrutiny in September when it posted an article defending female genital mutilation, blaming opposition to the practice on “Jewish media.” At the time, the Muslim C ouncil of Calgary disavowed any connection to the website, stating that those who operate it were in an “adversarial relationship” with the Council. This article was originally published on the B'nai Brith website on January 31, 2018 and can be viewed on their site by clicking here.
